Panama - Minister of Security acknowledges presence of FARC in the border region

On 16 April 2011, Panama’s Minister of Security, Jose Raul Mulino, acknowledged the presence of FARC guerrilla operatives in the Panama-Colombia border. Minister Mulino reiterated that the National Border Service has control over the Pacific area, impeding the access of the FARC’s 57 front from the area known as the Jaque. Minister Mulino also announced an investment of US$4.2 million in security projects for the region.
