Mexican homicides totaled 24, 374 in 2010, a 23% increase over 2009. The State of Chihuahua (Ciudad Juarez) topped all others with 4, 747 homicides, followed by Sinaloa ( Mazatlan) with 2, 505, the small State of Mexico with 2, 096, Guerrero (Acapulco) with 1, 629 and Baja California (Tijuana) with 1, 539. AJUCHITLAN DEL PROGRESO, GUERRERO
The Mexican military received of a group that carried out kidnappings and extortion. On arrival in the locale, they were fired on and returned fire, killing all four gunmen Inside the vehicle, they found a man who had been gagged, handcuffed and executed. They also found 4 rifles and magazines.
JUAREZ, NUEVO LEÓN
Another clandestine narco grave has been found about 10 kilometers from the county seat. So far, 16 bodies have been located, some just skeletons, others decomposed and even eaten by animals. None of the victims have been identified, and the search for other graves is continuing. The grave was located through investigation and questioning of arrested suspects.
COYUCA DE CATALAN, GUERRERO
The Knights Templar executed a young man, and then hung the body upright near a primary taxi stand. He was tied up with ropes, his ears were mutilated, and he had been shot several times. Near his feet, a narco message was left. The victim is still unidentified.
GUADALUPE, NUEVO LEÓN
Gunmen in a pick up chased two on duty municipal police officers, shooting and gravely injuring both. In addition, as a result, the police patrol vehicle struck a civilian vehicle and a traffic signal light.
IGUALA, GUERRERO
A shootout over the weekend is still being debated between the military and the police as to who killed the nine bad guys. Seized were firearms, magazines, ammunition, radios, vehicles, among other things.
NAVOLATO, SINALOA***
Three municipal police officers stopped while on patrol at a food vending cart to eat dinner. While eating, they were gunned down and executed. A civilian at the scene was wounded. The officers were identified as Mario Francisco Hermosillo Ibarra, Martín Uriarte Sauceda, and Valentin Flores Bueno.
MICHOACÁN
A total of nine people were executed on Wednesday, 6 of them in Yurécuaro in the morning, with another four gravely wounded there. Another 3 were found tortured and executed in Morelia.
ESCOBEDO, NUEVO LEÓN
The bodyguards of Clara Luz Flores, Mayor of Escobedo, have again been targeted for violence. While the 7 month pregnant Mayor and bodyguards were eating at about 4 pm, someone in a passing vehicle a bomb into the bodyguard’s truck, destroying it. The Mayor affirmed not change any of their anti-crime efforts, but likely increase action.
MONTERREY, NUEVO LEÓN
Authorities received a report at about 5 am Thursday of human remains. On arrival, officers found the butchered remains of a man and a woman, the pieces thrown around in the street. Both victims remain unidentified.
